Live termites in wood construction elements such as baseboards, window and door frames, wall studs and more. Termites are sometimes found while doing home remodeling or repair. Worker termites are small, whitish creatures that will quickly move away when exposed to light. |

Mud tubes on walls located outside or inside the structure, which often disappear into cracks of masonry, in and around doors and window frames or along siding. Termites construct mud tubes to protect themselves as they bridge from soil to wood. The tubes can be 1/4 inch in diameter and can extend many feet across solid surfaces. |

Hollow-sounding wood in walls, baseboards and floors should be inspected for termite damage. Termites eat from the inside of the wood out, so damaged wood is sometimes very difficult to detect. |

Bulging walls — aboveground carton nests of Formosan termites can make inside walls bulge. |

Dead termites or termite wings around windows, doors, heating vents, or in bathtubs and sinks. |
